MCDOA members attend MWA reunion

10 Mar 2024 - Yesterday’s MWA (Mine Warfare Association) AGM and reunion at the Royal Maritime Club in Portsmouth was a grand occasion made even more enjoyable, for the partisan attendees at least, by England’s unexpected victory over Ireland with the final kick of the match in the six nations rugby championship. Joint MCDOA/MWA attendees included Angus Benton, John ‘George’ Turnbull and Yours Truly (Rob Hoole).

Paul Renouf deserves particular mention for his eye-catching shirt.

A special vote of thanks to the usual worker bees including Jim Hawkins, Peter ‘Taff’ Reader, Peter Whitehead, John ‘Jan’ Harvey and his wife Debbie ‘the Bish’, etc., for making the weekend gathering so successful. Dick Barton made an appearance, as did ‘Slinger’ Wood Mk II, and it was nice to see Angus Benton winning the first prize in the raffle.

Next year’s reunion is planned for the weekend of 14-16 March 2025 in Falmouth.
